The Queen - We saw this Friday night. I loved this movie. LOVED IT! I don't know tons about royal behavior or etiquette so I found the whole thing fascinating. You can't show your back to the queen? Back out the door? Really? Who knew?
I've seen all the Best Picture nominees except Letters from Iwo Jima, which I probably won't see (war movies usually are not my thing). And, I have to say, I don't know which is going to win. Besides loving The Queen, I also loved Little Miss Sunshine. Babel and the Departed were also both good. I can't see the Departed winning, but my guess is that Babel could.
Super Bowl Commercials - Oprah and Dave, hands down, the best commercial. I was also mildly amused by Rock, Paper, Scissors, the Budweiser crabs, and T-Mobile/Charles Barkley. Some of the best overall commercials were the two that showed a truck speeding along on a platform and hauling a bunch of crap up a ramp. They weren't funny, but my guess is that they were effective for those in the market for a huge pickup. (There are links to the ads in a bunch of places, including the CBS website.)
Los Tejanos - J and I tried this restaurant on Saturday night. It is on the east side of St. Paul. We went to the Winter Carnival and the Torchlight Parade, so we needed to eat somewhere that would appreciate us in all our winter wear and St. Paul paraphernalia. Therefore, we needed something casual. We were in the mood for Mexican and had heard this place had good reviews. With the exception of the chips and salsa, which were fantastic, I wouldn't bother. The food was was too salty and the cheese sauce was processed.
