My brother and his wife just got back from a quick vacation to their previous home in PA. They left early Friday morning and returned yesterday afternoon. This was their first time away from the kids for any length of time. The kids stayed with Buppa and B. With the exception of being tired, my parents had a great time. And, for the most part, the kids did really well. They slept like crazy, the older ones didn't miss the potty, they went to the great Bay Beach (and got to ride horses), and spent lots of time at the local parks.
But, poor Oatmeal is really struggling with separation anxiety right now. Wednesdays at day care are tough enough, but four days with my parents was a struggle for her. It is not as if she is unfamiliar with my parents, she sees them all the time, it is just her parents being gone causes her to worry. When my brother/SIL called to check in, Oatmeal would get on the phone and cry. And, when they got back yesterday, she wouldn't leave my SIL's side. Today, when my SIL was in the shower, Oatmeal had to stay with her for fear she wouldn't come back.
It is interesting that ReeRee shows none of this anxiety. And the baby is at the age where she has no worries. Plus, she is such a peaceful kid, that she is really easy to take care of. I hope Oatmeal starts to feel better soon.
So sad! We have not yet left the girls with anyone else overnight--either one of them, ever!--so I cannot even imagine how it would go. Especially given Julia's current difficulties with preschool! It's a tough age in many ways. At least the twins have each other---one would almost think that would help somewhat....???
